Water Temp: mid to high 60’s
Clarity: Clear main lake. Creeks are slightly stained as you work towards the back. River arms are muddy with the past weekend storm.
Lake Level: 1066.04 (4.96ft below full pool)
Weather Trend – Yet again the weatherman was wrong. We had no rain until Sunday morning, but it was a pretty good dump above the lake and gave us a little bit of water in the lake. Normal spring temperatures this week should keep us in the mid to high 60’s water temps with the cooler nights.
What’s Working Right Now
The stripers are heading to the rivers and backs of the creeks as they are in full spawn mode with the stable mid 60’s water temperatures. Big baits are more and more in play through April. At least an 8-10” gizzard will be in the spread for the next few weeks. Larger herring and small shad will be the baits on the rest of the planer boards and flat lines. Standard setup for herring: 30-50’ behind the boards and flatlines, 50-75’ back. Large shad are good 15-20’ behind the board since they will find brush piles if you give them a longer lead. Keep your eyes up so you can pull them out of the way of Ospreys.
