August 2017 Lake Lanier Fishing Report

Wow, it’s August already!  Water temperatures were in high mid 80’s but all of the rain and cloud cover the last couple of weeks has backed them down to 82-83 degrees.  The summer bite is in full swing.  Latest Temperature/Dissolved Oxygen reports from the awesome guys at DNR show 30-80′ for the best environment for stripers from mud creek to the dam. Down lined herring have been the best producers, with leadcore and u-rigs a close second.  Look mid-creek to the river channel on any of the southern creeks below Brown’s Bridge.  As the month goes along, it will be best from Flowery Branch to the Dam.  This summer has been much different vs previous summers as the Corp is pulling only minimum flows.  This has made the best bite for us in the morning vs in the afternoon.  This is a good thing as its neither hot in the AM nor do we have to dodge thunderstorms.  This bite will continue through September so give us a call to set up your Striper Experience.
